What is Architectural Detailing?

Architectural Detailing is a specialized discipline within the field of Interior Design that focuses on the applied decorative elements that combine to define the architectural style of the structure.    When cabinetry and millwork, hardware, tile, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, HVAC grilles are chosen with purpose and the interior and exterior flow seamlessly as one distinct style, a house becomes a home.

Common practice is to hire an Architect, a Contractor, and an Interior Decorator.  The Architect designs a structure and spacial layout that will function best for the client's needs.  The Contractor schedules and oversees reputable sub-contractors to execute the architect's plans.  And the Interior Decorator specifies beautiful furnishings to fill the new space.  Who makes sure the structure is beautiful in its own right?  Amy Turner Architectural Detailing is the missing link.

Someone has to pay attention to the details.  I manage the big picture as well as minute details such as the color of electrical outlets and the placement of unsightly thermostats.  Why go to the expense of building or renovating a fine home and, in the end, have guests wondering to themselves "why did they put that ugly thing right there?".

I work as a consultant on an hourly basis and am available for consultation on residential new construction or renovation projects.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Ecology and Interior Design from Lambuth University.  References provided upon request.
